How to Keep Message and Remove Attachments in Outlook

You can keep the message and remove attachments in Outlook. This is very useful if you have received messages with large attachments and you do not want them except the message itself.

Step 1: Click the message with attachments to display the message in the reading pane, or double click to open the message in the message window;

Step 2: Click the small triangle after the attachments (or right-click on any of the attachments);

Step 3: From the drop-down list, click "Remove Attachment";

Step 4: A reminder appears to ask for confirmation. Click "Remove Attachment" and the attachment will be removed.

Step 5: Use "Ctrl+S" or click the "Save" button to save the message. Otherwise, when you close the message, a message will pop up asking to save the changes.
