Guru Rimpoche's Thungkar Tshechu is a Buddhist festival and regional holiday in the state of Sikkim, India, and it is observed on the 10th day of the 5th month of the Tibetan Lunar Calendar.
Guru Rimpoche's Thungkar Tshechu marks the birth anniversary of Guru Rinpoche, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism who first introduced Buddhism in Sikkim and Tibet during the 8th century. He is also credited with establishing the first Buddhist and Nyingma monastery in Tibet.
