Czech Statehood Day commemorates the martyrdom of Czech Prince Wenceslas, who his brother assassinated on September 28, 935.
In September 935, Wenceslas's younger brother Boleslav invited him to a feast, and when he arrived, a group of nobles allied with Boleslav stabbed him to death.
