Culturama Day is a public holiday in Saint Kitts and Nevis, and it is observed on the Tuesday following the first Monday in August each year. It is a festival celebrating Nevis island's rich history, culture, and heritage.
Culturama Day was started in 1974 by the Nevis Dramatic and Cultural Society as a weekend activity. It has been one of the most important events on the islands nowadays. Like other Caribbean Carnivals, Culturama Day is observed in July or August to coincide with Emancipation Day.
The festival celebrates traditional folk art in all forms, although it is becoming an exciting celebration similar to other Carnivals with the disappearance of some cultural components.
The festival celebration comes with many celebrations and events, and the street is filled with dancing, music, drama, costumes, arts and crafts exhibitions, and many other activities.
