Constitution Day is a public holiday in Puerto Rico, observed on July 25 each year. The holiday commemorates when the Constitution of Puerto Rico was signed into law on July 25, 1952. Puerto Rico's electorate ratified the constitution in a referendum on March 3, 1952, and several months after, the constitution was approved on July 3, 1952. On July 25, Governor Luis Muñoz Marín signed the constitution into law.
July 25 coincides with the previous holiday of Occupation Day, commemorating the arrival of the United States military forces on July 25, 1898.
