Constitution Day is a public holiday in the Principality of Andorra, and it is observed on March 14 each year. The holiday commemorates the anniversary when the Constitution of Andorra was approved by the Andorran people in a referendum.
The Principality of Andorra is a sovereign landlocked microstate on the Iberian Peninsula between France and Spain. It is one of the smallest countries in the world, with a population of approximately 77,000.
The Constitution of Andorra is the supreme law of Andorra. It was adopted on February 2, 1993, and approved by the Andorran people in a referendum on March 14, 1993. Andorra has the two co-princes, who are also Andorra's heads of state, the President of France and the Bishop of Urgell, and both signed the Consitution.
In the new Constitution, the government instituted a parliamentary system composed of separate executive, legislative, and judicial branches. Although the state's heads are the two co-princes, the Prime Minister of Andorra has the executive power.
