Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is a Christian holiday observed in many countries, and it falls on the day after Shrove Tuesday or 46 days before Easter Sunday.

Ash Wednesday is a Christian holy day of prayer, commonly observed with ashes and fasting. Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Lenten period leading up to Easter, another important Christian festival celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Lenten fasting in the Christian churches lasts 40 days, from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday, excluding Sunday, commemorating the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the desert.

On Ash Wednesday, a priest will place the ashes on a worshiper's forehead in the shape of a cross, which means the person belongs to Jesus Christ.
