How to Add Numbers to Paragraphs in Word

To easily count the number of paragraphs in a word file, you can add paragraph numbers to the document. Please see the steps below:

Step 1: Click anywhere in the document, and use shortcut "Ctrl+A" to select all, or select the paragraphs you want to add the numbers;

Step 2: Click the "Home" tab from the Ribbon;

Step 3: Click the "Numbering" icon in the Paragraph section;

Step 4: The numbers will appear in front of the selected paragraphs.

Step 5: You can always switch to a different numbering style in step 2.

Step 6: If you want to include subparagraphs in your document, you need to select the paragraph and press the "Tab" key from the keyboard to indent the paragraph. To add numbers to the subparagraphs, you need to click "Multilevel list" from the "Home" tab.
