How to Add Border to First Page only in Word

When working with a word file, you can add pages to all the pages to make the file looks better. However, if you want to only add borders to the first page and leave all other pages with no borders, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Click the "Design" tab from the ribbon;

Step 2: Click "Page Borders" in the "Page Background" area;

Step 3: In the "Borders and Shading" window, select the border type and click the "Preview" area to add borders on each side;

Step 4: In the box "Apply to" at the bottom, select "This section – First page only" from the drop-down list;

Step 5: Click "OK" to finish.

To add page borders to all pages but the first page, please select "This section – All except first page" from the drop-down list.

To change the border color and width, please click the "Color" and "Width" box to choose the one you like.
