When working with the Word file, you may want to insert today's date in the header or footer for the future reference. Please see the steps below to add today's date in the header of the Word file.
Step 1: Double click the header area to move the cursor to the header;
Step 2: In the "Header & Footer" tab from the ribbon (or Design tab if you use a different Excel version);
Step 3: Click Date & Time in the Insert section;
Step 3: In the "Date and Time" dialog box, select one date format (e.g.: January 5, 2020) from the list;
Step 4: Check the box of "Update automatically" if you want the date update automatically, or leave it empty if you want the date to have no update;
Step 5: Click "OK" at the bottom and you will see the date appears in your file.
Not only you can add today's date to your word file, but also you can insert the word file date first created and last saved.
