January 25 Revolution (Egypt)

January 25 Revolution is a public holiday in Egypt, observed on January 25 each year.

January 25 Revolution commemorates the beginning of the Egyptian Revolution on January 25, 2011, which was an uprising that consisted of demonstrations, marches, and strikes by millions of protesters from various backgrounds, and demanded the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak.

Hosni Mubarak was an Egyptian military and political leader born on May 4, 1928, and died on February 25, 2020. He served as the 4th president of Egypt from 1981 to 2011. During the last few years of his presidency, there were social, economic, and political issues, including police brutality, corruption, high unemployment, etc., and the protesters' primary demands were to end the Mubarak regime.

The uprising lasted for 18 days, and Mubarak resigned as president on February 11, 2011.
