Tet, also known as Vietnamese New Year, Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, is the most important festival in Vietnam. It marks the first day of the first month of the Vietnamese calendar.
Many customs and traditions are practiced during Tet Holiday, an important time for family union. During the holiday, people working outside will return to their hometowns to meet families and friends. It is also a time to worship their ancestors, and they visit and clean up ancestors' graves as a sign of respect.
In Vietnam, the holiday is the largest and most important holiday of the year. It lasts from the last day of the last lunar month to the 5th day of the first lunar month.
Tet is divided into three periods in Vietnam: Tất Niên for penultimate New Year's Eve, Giao Thừa for New Year's Eve, and Tân Niên for the New Year, representing the preparation before Tet, the eve of Tet, and the days of and following Tet.
