When working with Google Sheets, you may need to separate cells with text into different columns. For example, you need to separate a column with full names into different columns. In Google Sheets, you can separate the names either using the "Split text to columns" feature or the add-on "Split Names" to finish this task. In this article, we are going to explain how to separate text using the "Split text to columns" command.
Step 1: Select the data range with the text (e.g., names) to split;
Step 2: Click the "Data" tab from the ribbon;
Step 3: Click "Split text to columns" from the drop-down list;
Step 4: In the "Separator" dialog box, select the criteria to separate the text, e.g., "Space" in this example;
Step 5: The first name and last name are now in different columns.
