Seward's Day

Seward's Day is a public holiday in the state of Alaska, United Sates, and it is observed on the last Monday in March.

Seward's Day is named for William H. Seward, who was United States Secretary of State from 1861 to 1869 and negotiated the purchase of Alaska from Russia. The signing of the Alaska Purchase treaty was on March 30, 1867.

The formal transfer of Alaska from Russia to the United States was on October 18, 1867, which is the holiday of Alaska Day.
