Remembrance Day (Cayman Islands)

Remembrance Day is a public holiday in the Cayman Islands, and it is observed on the second Monday of November each year.

Remembrance Day originally commemorates the anniversary when the armistice agreement was signed between the Allies and Germany at Compiègne, France, which took effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918.

Remembrance Day is to commemorate the end of World War I and also to honor those veterans who fought in World War I. It was celebrated for the first time in 1919 in the Commonwealth of nations with the name of "Armistice Day", which was changed to Remembrance Day in 1930.

On Remembrance Day, there will be a parade and an official ceremony of wreath-laying. The ceremony is presided by the government officials.
