Neutrality Day (Turkmenistan)

Neutrality Day is a public holiday in Turkmenistan, and it is observed on December 12 each year. The holiday commemorates the anniversary when Turkmenistan acquired the legal status of permanent neutrality in 1995.

Turkmenistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia. Turkmenistan declared independence on October 27, 1991, following the collapse of the Soviet Union. On December 12, 1995, one United Nations General Assembly resolution was adopted to recognize Turkmenistan as a neutral country, ensuring regional peace and security.

When the status of a country is neutral, it means the country will not participate in a war, nor support any side during a war. Neutrality has been a big thing in Turkmenistan since its adoption, and it has been the basis of national and international policies.

The holiday is considered the second most important holiday after Independence Day in Turkmenistan, and many concerts and cultural events are held across the country.
