Maharashtra Din

Maharashtra Din, also known as Maharashtra Day, is a regional holiday in the state of Maharashtra, India, and it is observed on May 1 each year.

Maharashtra Din commemorates the anniversary when the state of Maharashtra came into existence on May 1, 1960. Before the state was formed, the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat were in one state and it was called the Bombay state. In the Bombay state, people primarily spoke Gujarati and Kutchhi language in some areas, while people primarily spoke Marathi and Konkani in other areas.

According to the Bombay Reorganisation Act, which came into effect on May 1, 1960, the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat were formed.
