Zanzibar Revolution Day is a national public holiday in Tanzania. It marks the anniversary of the 1964 revolution in Zanzibar, which overthrew the ruling Arab sultanate and led to the creation of the People's Republic of Zanzibar and Pemba, eventually uniting with mainland Tanganyika to form modern-day Tanzania.

NRM Liberation Day in Uganda commemorates the day in 1986 when the National Resistance Army (NRA), led by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, successfully captured power and overthrew the military government of General Tito Okello. The day marks the beginning of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government, which has remained in power ever since.
