Holidays in Qatar 2023

Qatar has eight public holidays in 2023, two of which fall on weekends: Friday and Saturday.

National Sports Day
National Sports Day is a public holiday in Qatar, observed on February 14, 2023. The holiday promotes a healthy lifestyle and makes people aware of health and fitness.

Eid al-Fitr
Muslims worldwide celebrate this religious holiday, celebrating the end of a month of fasting. The holiday falls on the first day of Syawal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. The holiday lasts three days, from April 21 to April 23, 2023.

Eid al-Adha
Eid al-Adha, also known as the festival of sacrifice, is an important Muslim festival. The holiday lasts three days from June 27 to June 29, 2023, and it honors the willingness of the prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God's command.

National Day
National Day, or Founder's Day, is a public holiday in Qatar, observed on December 18, 2023. The holiday commemorates Qatar's unification in 1878 and the day when Sheikh Mohammed bin Thani died on December 18, 1878. He was the first ruler of the whole Qatar Peninsula.
