Holidays in Trinidad and Tobago 2025

There are 14 public holidays in Trinidad and Tobago in 2025, three of which fall on weekends.

New Year's Day
New Year Holiday, celebrated on January 1, 2025, is the first day of the year on the modern Gregorian calendar, and it is one of the most popular holidays in the world.

Spiritual Baptist Day
Spiritual Baptist Day is a public holiday in Trinidad and Tobago, observed on March 30, 2025. The holiday commemorates the end of the 1917 Shouter Prohibition Ordinance, which prohibited the activities of the Shouter or Spiritual Baptists.

Eid al-Fitr
This is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide celebrating the end of a month of fasting. The holiday falls on the first day of Syawal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar, on March 31, 2025.

Good Friday
Good Friday is a Christian holiday celebrating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. It is observed on Friday immediately preceding Easter Sunday on April 18, 2025.

Easter Monday
Easter Monday is to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, and it is the Monday after Easter Sunday. It is observed on April 21, 2025.

Indian Arrival Day
Indian Arrival Day is a public holiday in Trinidad and Tobago, observed on May 30, 2025. The holiday commemorates the arrival of the first Indentured Labourers from India to Trinidad in May 1845.

Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi celebrates the real presence of the body and blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ in the elements of the Eucharist. It is observed on June 19, 2025.

Labour Day
Labour Day, observed on June 19, 2025, commemorates the day of the Butler Oilfield Riots, which took place in 1937. Before the riots, the relationship between the workers and the employers in Trinidad and Tobago became problematic.

Emancipation Day
Emancipation Day is a public holiday in Trinidad and Tobago, on August 1, 2025. The holiday commemorates when the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 came into force on August 1, 1834.

Independence Day
Independence Day, observed on August 31, 2025, commemorates when Trinidad and Tobago gained independence on August 31, 1962. Trinidad and Tobago became a British crown colony in 1797. The slavery abolishment took place in 1833 when Trinidad and Tobago was under British rule.

Republic Day
Republic Day is celebrated on September 24, 2025 to commemorate the day Trinidad and Tobago became a republic on August 1, 1976, when the first Parliament met under the new Republican Constitution.

Diwali
Diwali is the festival of lights in Indian communities worldwide. People light rows of lamps inside and outside their homes for the holiday, representing the triumph of light over dark and the power of good over evil. The holiday falls on October 20, 2025.

Christmas Day
Christmas Day is celebrated on December 25, 2025, and commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Christmas Day is a holiday of sharing. People exchange Christmas gifts and cards with families and friends.

Boxing Day
Boxing Day is also known as St. Stephen's Day and is widely known as a shopping holiday in some countries. It falls on December 26, 2025.
