The History of Laylat al-Qadr?
Laylat al-Qadr occurred during the month of Ramadan in the year 610 CE, when the Prophet Muhammad was meditating in the Cave of Hira outside Mecca. On that night, the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) appeared and revealed the first verses of the Qur'an. This moment marks the beginning of the prophetic mission and the first instance of divine revelation to Muhammad.
The exact night is not known, but it occurs in the last 10 nights of Ramadan, particularly on odd-numbered nights: the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, or 29th.
The 27th night of Ramadan is most commonly observed by many Muslims as Laylat al-Qadr, though scholars encourage seeking it throughout the final 10 nights.
From the time of the Prophet until now, Muslims spend the night in Prayer and Taraweeh, reading and reflecting on the Qur'an, asking for forgiveness and good deeds.
