Great Union Day, also known as Unification Day or National Day, is a public holiday in Romania, and it is observed on December 1 each year.
Great Union Day commemorates the achievement of Romanian unification, especially the unification of Transylvania, Bessarabia, and Bukovina with the Romanian Kingdom in 1918.
The Great Union started from the Union of the Romanian Principalities Moldavia and Wallachia on January 24, 1859, which formed the Principality of Romania. It was considered the first step toward the Romanian nation's most important Great Union.
