Govardhan Puja is a restricted holiday and the fourth day of the Diwali festival in India, and it is the first day of the bright fortnight of the lunisolar calendar.
Govardhan Puja is a day to celebrate the bond between the wife and husband. In the north, west and central regions, Govardhan Puja also honours the legend of the Hindu god Krishna saving the cowherd and farming communities from incessant rains and floods.
