Garia Puja is a regional festival in the state of Tripura, India, which lasts for seven days. Garia Puja starts on the last day of the Hindi month of Chaitra. The seventh day is a regional holiday and it is observed on the seventh day of the month of Vaishakha in the Hindu calendar, which is usually in April or May in the Gregorian Calendar.
Lord Garia is known as the Lord of the household. During the festival, people place a long bamboo pole in the courtyard as the symbol of Lord Garia and make sacrifices with eggs and chicken to please Lord Garia to pray for peace, harmony and wealth.
