Onam is a harvest festival celebrated in the state of Kerala, India, and it is a 10-day festival. First Onam, also Uthradom, is the 9th day of the festival, also the first day of the arrival of King Mahabali in Kerala.
According to the Kerala tradition, King Mahabali is the great devotee of Vishnu and is considered the noblest and most prosperous king. Many people on this auspicious day will clean the houses and shop for fresh vegetables and fruits.
