Bhanu Jayanti

Bhanu Jayanti is a regional holiday in Nepal and the state of Sikkim, India, and it is observed on the 29^th day of the month of Ashad according to the Nepali calendar, which is usually July 13 on the Gregorian calendar.

Bhanu Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Bhanubhakta Acharya, who was born on 29 Ashadh 1871 B.S. on the Nepali calendar, or July 13, 1814, on the Gregorian calendar. He was considered the first poet in Nepal, also the first writer to translate the great epic Ramayana from Sanskrit to Nepali.
