When using the Excel, you may find that the ruler is grayed out and you cannot use it. This is because the "Ruler" by default is gray out in the Normal View and Page Break Preview, and you can use it only in the Page Layout View.
Step 1: Click the View Tab from the ribbon;
Step 2: The Ruler display in different views:
1. The ruler is grayed out in the Normal View;
2: The ruler is grayed out in the Page Break Preview;
3: The ruler is available in the Page Layout View.
I have the latest version of Excel as part of Office 365. I renewed my annuial subscription in late Apr 2020. In my case, I was unable to unlock the Ruler. What I found to be the cause of my problem was that I had hidden the first row> Once I unhid the first row, I gained back the ability to print all my colums, not just some of them in Portrait mode.
Why in the hell is the ruler locked in normal view? I use normal view – it's called normal view because it's normal – why would you grey out the ruler?
