The shortcut Ctrl+N is to create a new workbook. It is very helpful when you need to open a new workbook especially when you have many open windows. You do not need to minimize all other windows. Every time you press the shortcut, you will get a new workbook.
Step 1: Open a new Excel workbook, or if you are working on one already, just click anywhere in the worksheet;
Step 2: Press the "Ctrl" key from the keyboard and hold it, then press the letter "N" from the keyboard to create a new workbook.
Alternatively, you can open a new workbook in the regular method.
Step 1: Click the "File" tab from the ribbon;
Step 2: Click "New" from the left navigation menu;
Step 3: Select "Blank Workbook" from the gallery.
If you need to add a new worksheet within a workbook, please use the shortcut "Shift+F11".
