The Emperor's Birthday is a public holiday in Japan, and it is observed on February 23 each year.

The Emperor's Birthday celebrates the birth anniversary of the reigning Emperor Naruhito, who was born on February 23, 1960. He acceded to the Chrysanthemum Throne on May 1, 2019, after the abdication of his father, Emperor Akihito, due to his age and declining health.

The Emperor's Birthday is one of the two days a year for people to enter the inner grounds of the Tokyo Imperial Palace. Another day is the New Year celebration on January 2.
