Nuakhai, also Navakhai, is a regional holiday in the state of Odisha, India, and it is observed on the day after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, the fifth day of the lunar fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada.
Nuakhai is an agricultural festival celebrating to welcome the new crop of the season. People worship food grain and prepare special meals, and it is common for family members to gather together during the festival.
