Maha Ashtami is a restricted holiday in India, and it is the eighth-day celebration of the Hindu deity Durga Puja celebrations.
Durga Puja celebrates the victory of the goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. It is a major festival of Hinduism and holds for 10 days in the month of Ashvina of the Hindu calendar, which falls in September and October in the Gregorian calendar.
