He was the first-born son of King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau'u Tuku'ʻaho. \nIn March 2012\, after the death of King George Tupou V\, he became the heir apparent\, officially receiving the title Crown Prince Tupoutoʻa ʻUlukalala on March 30\, 2012. \nHe attended Tupou College in Tonga before further studies abroad\, then earned a Master of Military and Defence Studies (2018) and a Master of Diplomacy (2021) from the Australian National University. \nOn January 28\, 2025\, he was appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for His Majesty's Armed Forces.
