The seventh emirate\, Ras Al Khaimah\, joined the federation shortly after on February 10\, 1972. \nSheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan\, ruler of Abu Dhabi\, was elected the first president of the UAE and is widely honored as the Father of the Nation. \nThe UAE was built on principles of cooperation\, stability\, and mutual progress. \nThe unification allowed the emirates to modernize infrastructure\, develop a shared economy and defense\, and strengthen national identity and global presence. \nOver the decades\, the UAE has evolved into a global leader in finance\, technology\, culture and diplomacy.
