Ctrl+A: Selects Current Data

The shortcut Ctrl+A is one of the most useful shortcuts in Excel. The shortcut is to select the current data range where the cursor is or the whole worksheet if the cursor is not in a data range. If the cursor is in a data range, press one time to select the data range and press a second time to select the entire worksheet.

1. When the cursor is in a data range

Step 1: Click anywhere in the data range;

Step 2: Press the "Ctrl" key and hold it, then press the letter "A" from the keyboard. This is to select the current data range.

Step 3: If you want to select the whole worksheet, press "Ctrl" and "A" again. A second time will select the whole worksheet.

2. When the cursor is outside of the data range

Step 1: Click anywhere outside of the data range;

Step 2: Press the "Ctrl" key and hold it, then press the letter "A" from the keyboard. This is to select the whole worksheet.
